Raffle Update 5 - Faith, Hope and Charity
Brothers, if you look up Faith, Hope, and Charity on the Internet within 0.37 seconds you’ll receive over 19,200,000 references on the computer. Here is one reference from the “Catechism of the Catholic Church”: “The Three Theological Virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity allow man to share in God's nature. God directly infuses these three virtues into the soul where they make the believers capable of living as God's children and meriting eternal life. Charity is kindness without prejudice, bringing forth friendship and communion. ‘Love is the goal. Once we reach it, we shall find rest’ - St. Augustine.” Jesus emphasized being charitable to the poor. Further down on the list of references were Parishes, Schools, 5 K race for charity, and we need to add K of C State Charity Raffle. Now that lent is over, we (all councils) will have an opportunity to raise funds for Charity by offering raffle tickets to family and friends, to groups, and to parishioners after weekend masses. Hopefully our personal experiences during Lent and with The Epic Mini Series on THE BIBLE plus our recent involvement during Holy Week will inspire all of us to enthusiastically participate in the 2013 KC State Charity Fundraiser to raise funds for Charity. Raffle Chairman: Please email this message (or parts of it) to council officers and members on your electronic distribution list. This is the time to remind members to return sold ticket stubs along with money. Let them know that their cooperation will enable us to know how close we are to reaching our goal. The attached picture was from last year’s raffle (e.g. With 33 councils reporting raffle sales, we are at 12.7% of the state goal). Please send your March raffle ticket totals to us this week so that we can keep all councils informed on how our Annual Charity Fundraiser is proceeding. Thanks again your help and have a very enjoyable Easter Season.
